MegaFon and Russian Post Became Partners

MegaFon, the first pan-Russian mobile operator, and the Russian Post became partners. Under the federal agreement that was signed between the parties, now MegaFon’s pre-activated SIM-cards (subscription packages) may be bought at post-offices of the Russian Post.

Starting from the 1st quarter of 2010, this service will be available in all post-offices of the Russian Post that are within MegaFon's coverage footprint. Today the subscription packages are already offered for sale in 15,000 post-offices.
Anyone who wants to use the service needs to present his/her ID in a post-office (foreign citizens are also required to have a temporary or permanent residence permit with a specified validity period), to fill in a Subscriber Registration Form and to pay for the package. Then a customer gets a copy of contract and SIM-card that is ready for use. New joint offer by MegaFon and the Russian Post is addressed at individuals, but also at legal entities.

“The Russian Post’s mission is to provide for availability of various everyday vital services to citizens and organizations all over the country. We are constantly expanding the spectrum of services that are provided to customers in post-offices, and a new service implemented jointly with MegaFon became a next logical step in this direction”, said Alexander Kiselev, General Director of the Russian Post.

The companies have plans to expand the range of products offered for sale. In the nearest future the Russian post-offices will be selling not only subscription contracts, but also mobile devices (for example, MegaFon-modems).
